Recreational Pilot Permit

The Recreational Pilot Permit expands your horizons, and lets you get away from the hustle and bustle of being earth bound.

This permit enables you to fly up to a four seat aircraft, with a maximum of one passenger.  Although a little more restrictive than the Private Pilot Licence, this permit gets you started with less expense and allows you to carry passengers sooner.

Prerequisite:

Category 4 Aviation Medical

Minimum Age of 16 Years

Structure:

Flight lessons are scheduled to reflect the need of the individual student.

Recreational Pilot ground school scheduled consecutively two evenings per week.  This is not mandatory to take, but highly recommended.

Written exams are completed at Excel Flight Training Incorporated.

Flight exams are scheduled and completed at Excel Flight Training Incorporated.

Course completion:

Students receive a Recreational Pilot Permit after completing a minimum of 25 hours total flight time and passing the required exams.

The 25 (see note) hours flight time must also include the following:

– 20 hours Dual instruction.

–  5 hours pilot in command.

Note: These times are based on Transport Canada minimum requirements.  Students typically average 30 hours before course completion.

Tuition:

Course cost as based on a student average is approximately $8,565.00 (see note). All tuition is subject to 5% Goods and Services Tax (GST).

International Students:

This program is not a Designated Learning Program and ineligible to receive foreign nationals on a study permit.
